Rossville Students Share Their Voices on National Stage Through Podcast Experience
What happens when you hand a microphone to a group of passionate students and simply let them talk about what they love? For several Rossville FFA members, the answer is powerful, authentic, and unforgettable.
During a February trip to San Antonio, Texas, Rossville students did not just attend the Commodity Classic. They became part of the story. As guests on the “Beyond the Jacket” podcast, Zach Hubler, Gracie McDonald, Leia Emenhiser, Claire Heater, and Annabel Kreps brought listeners inside their journey, sharing firsthand what FFA has meant to them and how those experiences are shaping their futures.
The opportunity came after students earned top honors through Rossville’s Career Plot Day, a hands-on agricultural learning experience supported by the local farming community. Their success led to the trip to Texas, where they explored the convention, connected with industry leaders, and ultimately sat down behind the microphone.
But it was during the podcast that something special happened.
Listeners can hear it immediately. Not scripted answers or rehearsed lines, but genuine excitement. Students spoke openly about discovering agriculture, stepping outside their comfort zones, and saying yes to opportunities that changed their paths.
Each student brought a unique perspective. Zach Hubler reflected on how involvement in contests and hands-on experiences helped shape his interest in agricultural careers. Gracie McDonald shared how mentorship and leadership opportunities through FFA influenced her future plans in agronomy. Leia Emenhiser spoke about finding her place through participation and trying new experiences. Claire Heater highlighted the value of building confidence and exploring different aspects of agriculture. Annabel Kreps emphasized the importance of taking risks and embracing opportunities, even when they feel outside one’s comfort zone.
The conversation flowed naturally, filled with laughter, reflection, and moments of insight. Students discussed mentors who encouraged them, friendships formed through FFA, and the importance of taking risks. Over and over, a common theme emerged. Growth happens when students are willing to try something new.
Perhaps most striking is how clearly their voices carry purpose.
From aspirations in agronomy and agricultural sales to simply exploring possibilities, each student expressed a sense of direction rooted in their FFA experiences. They spoke not just about what they have done, but who they are becoming.
The “Beyond the Jacket” podcast lives up to its name, revealing that FFA is more than competitions and blue jackets. It is about confidence, communication, leadership, and discovering a place in the world.
For Rossville, the moment is a point of pride. These students represented their school and community on a national platform, demonstrating the strength of agricultural education and the impact of local support.
